Porcelain veneers are an excellent way to correct minor tooth anomalies such as chipped, stained, or discoloured teeth. Veneers are custom-made, custom-fitted, very thin pieces of porcelain that are bonded to your natural teeth. They are also effective when it is necessary to alter the length or size of the teeth with minimized risk to your natural tooth structure. Porcelain veneers are a minimally invasive restorative option when patients may be experiencing imperfections such as spaces between their teeth, broken, cracked, or chipped teeth, stained teeth, or crooked teeth.
Caring for your porcelain veneers is exactly like caring for your natural teeth. You can simply brush, floss and rinse with a recommended mouthwash like normal.
At the Ickert Dental Implant Centre, the dental veneer procedure can usually be accomplished in two appointments. At the first appointment, the teeth will be prepared. This is a matter of preparing the tooth structure with a minimally-invasive shaping procedure, followed an impression of the prepared teeth. The impression is then sent to a specialized laboratory where the porcelain veneers are handcrafted by a technician, whose art and skill is creating restorations that look and feel like natural teeth.
Dr. Norman W. Ickert will also take digital photographs of your teeth to accurately communicate the colour to the laboratory. Depending on the complexity of the situation, in-house custom shade matching be required together with the technician. In addition, in most cases, Dr. Ickert will fabricate acrylic/composite provisional veneers, which will be temporarily cemented in place for approximately three weeks while the laboratory fabricates the final restorations. Not only are these a temporary aesthetic solution, they are also fabricated to help communicate the new size, shape, and form of the teeth. At the second dental veneer appointment, your new porcelain veneers will be bonded into place and your new smile will be completed.
Dr. Norman Ickert and his team work closely with you to help make your dental veneer procedure a success. We are committed to providing each and every patient with a dental solution that minimizes the risk and improves the long term prognosis
It is critical that the present bite is accurately assessed and, if necessary, adjusted accordingly in a very precise manner. This ensures that the new porcelain veneers will function comfortably, minimizing the risk of premature damage. This will all be discussed in detail at the consultation appointment
